Provide mechanical aids to assist where possible, such as hoists or lifting slings. Some staff may have to adopt and hold awkward postures as part of their work, for example, nursing staff, sonographers and theatre staff. Stresses and strains arising from adopting awkward or static postures when caring for and treating people need to be addressed. It is important that this is done correctly and safely so no one is put at unnecessary risk.
