The receiver is very cost effective, and it's a smart buy at this low price. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to hook up their 5.1 system. But if you are listening in straight stereo, there is no simple "balance" control that I ever found. It does take a lot of study to learn the controls.
In my case this is enough, but others may find it limiting. Also, the component inputs are not upconverted into HDMI -- you have to run component outs AND HDMI out into your TV if you're using both kinds of inputs.
